A respected, mid-sized public accounting firm in Branford is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join its collaborative team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience across tax, audit, accounting, and client advisory services while working with a diverse portfolio of businesses and individuals.
The ideal candidate will have one to three years of recent public accounting experience, strong technical abilities, and an interest in continuing to grow within the profession.

Key Responsibilities
- Work independently and collaboratively on compilation, review, and audit engagements
- Prepare partnership, corporate, and S corporation tax returns and supporting workpapers
- Assist with year-round accounting and client advisory services
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements
- Prepare adjusting journal entries
- Research accounting and tax matters and summarize findings
- Organize and manage multiple priorities while meeting important deadlines
- Build strong working relationships with clients and colleagues
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
- One to three years of recent public accounting experience
- Progress toward CPA licensure is preferred
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop
- CCH software experience is a plus
- Strong technology, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Additional Schedule Information
During peak tax season, the position requires a minimum of approximately 55 hours per week from February through April 15. Additional overtime may also be required from September through October 15.
