Job Description
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Metallurgical Engineer / Quality Engineer to join their dynamic team. As a Metallurgical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the manufacturing processes, ensuring the highest quality standards for our products. $75K - $100K per year, plus benefits. Direct Hire.
Responsibilities for the Metallurgical Engineer / Quality Engineer
- Conduct metallurgical analysis and testing on raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods using various techniques, such as microscopy, spectroscopy, and mechanical testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement quality control procedures and standards to ensure product reliability and performance.
- Optimize manufacturing processes to enhance material properties and reduce costs.
- Investigate and troubleshoot material-related issues, including defects, failures, and non-conformance, and provide technical solutions and recommendations.
- Provide technical support to production teams and assist in process improvements, including alloy development, heat treatment, and surface treatments.
- Analyze data and prepare comprehensive reports on metallurgical findings, including material characterization, microstructural analysis, and mechanical properties.
- Stay updated with industry trends, advancements and regulations related to metallurgical engineering and incorporate best practices into our processes.
- Collaborate with suppliers and customers to ensure material specifications and requirements are met.
- Quality control inspection.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a Quality Engineer
- Aerospace industry experience is preferred
- ISO 9001-2015
- Strong knowledge of metallurgical principles, materials science, and alloy development.
- Proficiency in metallurgical analysis techniques, such as microscopy (optical and electron), spectroscopy and mechanical testing.
- Experience with metallurgical failure analysis and root cause investigation.
- Knowledge / experience in the heat treating / plating process
- Cross-layer and Cryptography training a plus
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to metallurgical engineering.
- Familiarity with UTC (Raytheon) specs.
- Quality Control Inspection experience including receiving, in-process and final inspection.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with metallurgical software and modeling tools is a plus.
