Job Description
Machine Operator – Manufacturing / Industrial Environment
$20 – $25/hr | Contract Position
Location: New Britain Area
We’re hiring a Machine Operator for a specialized manufacturing facility that handles chemical-based products. If you have experience operating production equipment—and are comfortable working in a safety-focused, industrial setting—this could be a great fit for you.
What You’ll Do:
- Operate and monitor machinery used in production and packaging.
- Weigh and add raw materials based on batch instructions.
- Record key data like temperature, pressure, and feed rates.
- Perform sampling and basic testing to support quality control.
- Load product into totes, drums, and tankers.
- Maintain a clean work area and follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Monitor inventory and report low stock issues.
- Support maintenance efforts and safety programs.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and hygiene procedures.
What We’re Looking For:
- High school diploma required.
- 6 months’ experience in a production, manufacturing, or industrial setting.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
- Basic math skills (decimals and percentages).
- Comfortable around chemical handling processes (experience is a plus).
- Team player with strong communication skills.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office and open to learning internal systems.
- Preferred (but not required):
- Technical training or certificate in manufacturing or chemical processing.
- Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, or PSM standards.
- Emergency response or hazardous material training a bonus.
